January 25 marks 80 years since the birth of Vladimir Semenovich Vysotsky: an outstanding actor, singer and poet, a classic of author's song genre. Vysotsky wrote about 700 songs and poems, he toured around the USSR and abroad with great success. As an actor he starred in about thirty films ("The meeting place can not be changed", "Vertical"), he was a member of the permanent troupe of Taganka Drama and Comedy Theater.
Vladimir Vysotsky was a bard, but became an icon, a history and a legend. His songs are loved even by people who are very far from the world of author song. In the years of strict censorship he touched upon a number of forbidden subjects, that is why he was forbidden himself- his records were distributed almost exclusively, he wasn't allowed to appear in many films, traveling abroad became possible only due to active actions of his wife, a French actress Marina Vladi. His roles in movies are invariably vivid, and many quotes "went to people".
There are so many streets, houses, boulevards and embankments, as well as mountain peaks and canyons named in honour of Vysotsky, that they are difficult to count. There is even an asteroid called Vladvysotsky. And the number of books and films about his life is growing every year.
